300 Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training

teacher-training-2011If you have completed any 200-hour or more teacher training program that meets the Yoga Alliance RYT-200 standards and would like to continue your education and practice, Darling Yoga offers a 300-hour advanced program to allow you to achieve your 500-hour Certification (and Yoga Alliance Registration- RYT500).

What is the basis of this advanced study of yoga teacher training?

The Advanced Yoga Studies Program emphasizes a deep study and understanding of yoga philosophies and practical applications of the eight limbs of yoga both on and off the mat. Students will build on their foundational knowledge from the 200 hour program and use it to enrich their abilities to both practice  and share all aspects of the yoga practice.

Why is it important to take this advanced course of study?

Where a 200 hour yoga teaching programs lays an excellent foundation for the continuing practitioner and interested teacher, the Advanced Studies Program takes the student to a new level of understanding and provides the tools to share the practice skillfully with a wide population. Delving deeply  into the philosophical study and application s of yoga practice, and advanced teacher has the tools to share the teachings not only in traditional yoga settings, but to communities where the applied science may be an important tool.

The advanced course of study gives you the tools and understanding to become a master teacher who can think outside the box and adapt the science of yoga for each and every kind of student.


What experience and background knowledge is required to take this training?

Students are required to have graduated from a 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training program. Students are required to have completed their practicum of teaching and observing/assisting hours.

How much teaching experience is required to enroll in this program?

Where it is helpful and recommended to have as much teaching and practice as possible, we accept students who have completed the required hours of teaching to be registered with Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour level.


What credentials will I receive upon completion of the program?

Yoga teachers who complete all requirements of the program will graduate with a certificate of completion.  Graduates of the Advanced Yoga studies are eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance and combine the 200 and 300 hour trainings to register as a RYT500.


Our 300-HR curriculum follows standards and requirements as defined by Yoga Alliance.  Completion of the program requires 270 minimum contact hours (must take place in the physical presence of a faculty member) and additional 30 non-contact hours (such as reading, webinars, written assignments, etc).  Contact and non-contact hours are further defined by The Yoga Alliance here.

20 Hours of Practicum Required Per Person; 10 in front of lead teacher(s)


Our 300-Hour Teacher training group will meet the following hours on each weekend listed below:

  • Friday:  7:00pm-9:00pm
  • Saturday:  10:00am-3:30pm
  • Sunday: 10:00am-3:30pm

In addition to the scheduled sessions with lead trainers listed above, students will need to fulfill 135 other approved contact hours in the following areas:

  • Techniques, Training and Practice: 25 hours
  • Anatomy and Physiology: 15 hours
  • Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers: 25 hours
  • Practicum: 10 hours
  • Additional Hours to be distributed among 5 categories at RYS’ discretion: 60 hours

Darling Yoga continually offers a wide variety of workshops and training programs for yoga teachers to meet these additional requirements and can work on an individual plan with trainees to make sure all requirements are met. These hours are not included in the overall program fees, however all trainees receive 50% off classes and 20% off workshops while enrolled (some restrictions may apply)..
